Request an Orchestra Cluster Account

If you're not familiar with how we handle requests for support or consultation, please read about our support system before submitting a request here.

If you have entered a request recently using the same computer and browser, your contact information will be pre-completed for you. Please verify that it is correct before submitting your request.

If you are not requesting an account for Orchestra's high-performance computing service, please use our general form instead.

Research summary: Please briefly describe the research for which you would like to use the Orchestra cluster.
Data storage estimate: Please estimate the amount of data you would need to store on Orchestra's fileserver -- immediately, 6 months from now, and a year from now. Please consider only the data that would be needed to be directly accessible by the cluster and assume that you would remove data that is no longer needed.
Computational resource usage estimate: Please estimate how long a typical job you would run on Orchestra would take and how many jobs per week you might typically run. For example, a job might take 3 hours to run on a single CPU box and you have 10 such jobs per week you would like to run.
Your UNIX skills: Please rate your familiarity with UNIX or Linux environments.

Additional accounts: Will other people who work with you also need access to your data and programs on Orchestra?

If so, and their software, computational, and storage requirements are mostly similar to yours, list their names and eCommons IDs here and we will also create Orchestra accounts for them.

If their needs are very different from yours, please have them complete this survey separately.

Software requirements: Please list the specific software packages that you will need installed on Orchestra for your research.
Contributing systems to Orchestra

If you are pleased with the performance and service on Orchestra, would you consider purchasing dedicated nodes for your research? You would still be able to use all available nodes when idle -- but you would have guaranteed access to an equivalent amount of computing capacity to what you contribute.
